Just a quick heads up on shooting this weekend.
As this is an ad-hock outdoor shooting weekend, I was hoping to head over to the field on Saturday to supervise the outdoor shoot, to make sure that the register was signed and that all arrows are accounted for. Unfortunately, I will now not be able to spend Saturday at the field owing to something that has come up over the last day or so and which I must prioritize.
Anyway, I have only heard from a couple of people that are intending to shoot at some point over the weekend. I am therefore taking this as an indication that the numbers of archers at AoR this weekend will be very low.
For this reason, can I please remind everyone that we must shoot within GNAS rules to remain fully insured. Failure to comply could render yourself uninsured and put the club in a difficult position. For the avoidance of doubt, GNAS rule 103 reads:
- 103. Numbers Present
(a) When any shooting is in progress there must be a minimum of two people present each being a minimum of 18 years of age, one of whom may be a non-archer to act as a
lookout. The archer is responsible to inform the lookout of all safety aspects applicable.
Where two adult archers are present and shooting together they will alternate on the
shooting line so that the non-shooting archer can act as the lookout.
(b) Juniors. When junior archers (ie archers under 18) are shooting individually or in
groups they must be supervised by an adult member (excluding honorary members) of
the Society and a second adult must be present.
As I hear from more people wishing to shoot this weekend, I will try to drop an email round to each of you by Friday evening so that you can liaise as appropriate.
