WOW – WOW – WOW!!!!!!!

Bradley Denny Shooting for England
Bradley Denny Shooting for England

There really was only one word that crossed my mind when I took a call from Kerry Denny about Bradley’s performance in Ireland at the Euronations Archery festival.  In fact it was so WOW, I really did think it three times.

Anyone who has shot with Bradley will know just how committed he is to his sport and how that commitment builds on his raw natural talent for archery.  Watching him shoot is just awe inspiring with shot after shot being identical.  So much so, that two recent photographs (one of him on a training bow and one with his normal competition bow) laid over each other showed an identical stance and shot.  It was therefore no great surprise to learn of his first call up to shoot for England as part of the Junior England Squad heading to Dublin for a competition with Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

So how well did he shoot?

Well, I am reliably informed that he achieved three gold medals and one silver medal over the weekend.  A fantastic achievement for his first outing representing England and we are incredibly proud of his achievements and they are well deserved.

The medals that he won included:

  • Gold –   For the overall team which was taken by England.
  • Gold –   For the mixed team consisting of Bradley and Lora Ankers.
  • Gold –   For the Gents Recurve Overall which included Bradley Denny, Jack Grogan and David Forster.
  • Silver – For the head to head knockout competition.

Bradley was ranked first in all of his rounds (Metric 1 and a 3 dozen qualification round) and this achievement qualified him for the head-to-head shoot off.  Bradley worked through the individual shoot off rounds winning each to make the final and a shoot off for silver and gold.  Bradley was beaten by Frank Lennon who took the gold and Bradley came away with the silver medal.

The England Junior Ladies also shot extremely well making it a very successful weekend for the whole England Junior Archery Squad.

So what now?  I can’t see it being long before Archery GB are knocking on Bradley’s door – watch this space!!!
