40th AoR Annual Indoor Portsmouth

This was the last event that Richard Wise Jnr carried out as our Tournament Officer.

Well again it started with most of Saturday afternoon setting up the range and getting the target faces, catering, layout prepared for the big occasion. It was great to see so many of our members getting involved and helping for the big event. The hall was layed out and all the seating arranged. Catering stand and raffle prizes ready to go.

The big day commenced with a very early start. Cate and her family were there and continued to set up the final part of the catering. The weather decided to take a turn for the worse overnight and it was very cold and snowed. Angela Brudenell stayed outside in that awful weather to produce the hot food everyone craved. She really did extremely well and even had the gazebo drop down but continued to cook. The rest of the catering with Cate organising went without a hitch and everyone was so welcome of the hot food as well as drinks on that day.

The tournament started and even though it was not completely full, all that attended had a brilliant time.

Again AoR demonstrated that the members and club atmosphere is truly amazing – all helped and welcomed the archers from different clubs and made them feel at home.

Well done to all involved especially Cate and her family, Angela for braving the winter to cook for us and to Richard for putting on his last tournament for Archers of Raunds.
