Bradley Denny of Archers of Raunds (pictured centre of photo with fellow team mates) powered past teams from Italy and Russia to land a team gold medal clash with Germany – and they took the honours in fine style, winning 6-2.

Their Gold medal brought Team GB’s overall medal total to 9 for the competition (2 gold; 4 silver and 3 bronze) placing GB equal 3rd in the medals table.

Bradley was in excellent form and finishing up ranked second out of the 44 other competing male archers in his age category.

And Bradley’s summer of sport has just got even better as he’s now heard that he and fellow GB archer Bryony Pitman (pictured below) have been selected by the British Olympic Association to represent Great Britain at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, where the pair, both 17, will be among 33 British athletes competing across 14 sports for the Games, which run from 16 to 28 August.

Their team leader will be Archery GB’s Performance Coach Songi Woo. She said: “Nanjing 2014 is going to be a fantastic experience for our juniors. And hopefully it will be a big stepping stone up to the next level and the Olympics.”

Bradley said: “Nanjing is going to be a fantastic experience for me and I’m so proud to have been selected to represent Team GB at the Youth Olympic Games. It’s a big multi-sport event, which is rare for archery, so it’s a chance to meet and learn from so many other athletes. Hopefully it can be a stepping-stone for my dream to, one day, compete at the Olympics.”
