Archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and all abilities. If you are able to hold a bow, draw it, take aim and shoot an arrow, there is no reason why you should not enjoy and benefit from this year round sport and make some good friends at the same time.
Archers of Raunds (AoR) was formed in the early 70's to provide local archers with a place to shoot and to help introduce new archers into the world of target archery. The club's current membership stretches back over 10 years and it currently shoots at Manor School Sports College, in Raunds, Northamptonshire. However, over the years AoR has had its shooting base in Rushden, Wellingborough, Souldrop and near Newton Bromswold.
Whether you are looking to shoot against yourself, competitively against other archers or simply turn up and shoot a few arrows and socialise, AoR can fully meet your needs.
AoR provides you with a very friendly and more importantly safe shooting environment. Working closely with NCAS and fully affiliated with Archery GB, AoR operates to national guidelines and standards ensuring that you will have a rewarding experience throughout the lifetime of your membership.
Featuring qualified coaches and several shooting days during each week during both shooting seasons, AoR provides members with great value for money. Furthermore, the club is proud to host numerous open and closed club competitions and also county competitions on behalf of NCAS. Most notably, the Annual ROSE shoot (recognised by GNAS) has been successfully hosted by AoR no less than 28 times over the club's lifetime.
AoR includes three defined sections, the beginners sections where introductory courses are taken, an active Juniors section and a section for Senior archers. Whilst the beginners section shoots together only on a Friday night, the juniors and seniors sections shoot together on several nights of the week with members from both sections socialising, shooting together and helping each other from time to time. This approach to shooting ensures that beginners receive the care and attention that they require during their early days with the club. Then, once the beginners course is completed, members can continue to develop their technique and form with the guidance of experienced fellow members as required.
